Dr. Milt Stern, a podiatrist with decades of clinical experience, uses a biomechanical approach to evaluate your feet and determine an appropriate custom orthotic design. The goal is to provide an orthotic that is made for your feet, your footwear and the activities you do.
These are not ordinary over-the-counter inserts. A custom orthotic is individually designed based on the information obtained during your evaluation and is fabricated according to that design.
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts designed for an individual person's feet rather than manufactured as a one-size-fits-most product. The design can take into consideration foot structure, biomechanics, symptoms, footwear and activity level.
Depending on the individual, custom orthotics may be used as part of a treatment approach for heel pain, plantar fasciitis, arch discomfort, flat feet, high arches, overpronation, foot fatigue and certain sports-related foot problems.
Different shoes can also require different orthotic designs. An orthotic for a running shoe may not have the same shape or features as one designed for a dress shoe, loafer, flat or high-heeled shoe.
The process begins with an evaluation of your individual needs. We review information about your feet, symptoms, activities and footwear. Your walking mechanics and other biomechanical information are also considered when determining the appropriate orthotic design.
